Top 4 Home Trends to Watch

Although matching blinds to a current trend isn’t always advisable, this season there are plenty of trends, which with a timeless twist, would make perfect window dressings. From monochrome to Scandinavian inspired design, we’ve got you covered with this year’s hottest homeware trends.

Geometric Prints

Geometric prints have been heavily involved in our artwork for hundreds of years, but more recently they can be found on items of clothing and around the home. By pairing straight line geometric designs with the monochrome trend you can easily create a statement, modern window dressing. But if you are looking for something slightly more classic, opt for warm tones and curved lines, such as this stunning navy and gold roller blind .

Scandinavian Design

Known for its minimalistic style and neutral colours, Scandinavian design will be a huge interior design trend throughout 2016. An easy way to bring this into your home is to use white blinds against a white wall. Not only does this create the illusion of additional space, it always brings plenty of light into the room. If this isn’t for you, another massive Scandinavian design feature is the use of wood within the home. Whether you choose plantation shutters or wooden blinds , they are sure to add a natural and homely feel to the space. All of our wooden products are sourced from ecologically sustainable sources, so you can have peace of mind as well as beautiful blinds.

Pastels

As you would have seen from our previous post, Pantone chose Rose Quartz and Serenity as the colours of the year. This choice cements industry insider’s predictions that pastels are here to stay this year. Opt for matching roman blinds and curtains with an in-keeping pattern. We love the yellow on this children’s window dressing, and can even create matching cushions and tiebacks if desired. But pastels isn’t reserved just for the children, the roller blinds below will look chic in any room.

Monochrome

Black and white has been a big trend for the past few years and shows no sign of slowing down; however the big difference this year is the introduction of grey. From pale grey walls to dark grey statement features, grey is everywhere, especially with metallic pops. This is a much harder trend to get right as it can look harsh and darken the room, but if done tastefully it’s the perfect way to create a chic atmosphere. For a softer look we would recommend pleated blinds, as the semi-sheer material softens the colour and brightens the room whilst maintaining privacy. If you are looking to fill an almost floor-to-ceiling space, these panel blinds offer a practical and stylish alternative.

Brave enough to go for black and white? Vision blinds break up the stark difference between the colours with snippets of the view. Perfect for conservatories and rooms with view, these blinds hit two trends in one with the monochrome stripes.

It’s officially the end of the Summer and the Autumn chills are definitely in the air! As the evenings are getting darker, all we want to do is snuggle in a fluffy blanket by the fire in an inviting and warm interior. As the seasons change, so do our moods, tastes and preferences, so start thinking about how you would like to redecorate your interiors this Autumn.

Curtains are the perfect way to change the entire feel of your room through the new textures, colours and shapes it creates around your windows. Curtains are practical as the weather gets colder, as they trap the heat inside the room, whilst also becoming an aesthetic focal point. So which curtains would be perfect for your interior this Autumn?

Autumn colours generally reflect nature’s seasonal changes, such as the bronzes, oranges, reds and burgundies found in Autumnal leaves. Combining these colours with wooden accessories and furnishings creates a beautifully traditional look. Add some matching cushions and rustic accessories such as lanterns and ladders for a truly gorgeous, warm and inviting interior.

Think about relaxing in your garden, a book in one hand and a cocktail in the other, soaking in the summer and enjoying the scenery. However, this blissful scene can often be ruined with a simple drizzle or an uncomfortably hot sun. Awnings can be the ultimate solution for these problems, ensuring you take advantage of the living space you have, not having to worry about the elements.

There are many advantages to residential awnings that you may not have considered, so we have a few reasons here to help you out:

1/ Protection from the sun in more than one way

Shading is important to keep your body at a comfortable temperature, ensuring you do not overheat, whilst also sheltering you from harmful UV rays. The awning can help decrease your outdoor area by over 20 degrees. This can also save a lot of energy - heat gain through windows is one of the main reasons why houses need air conditioning. In some climates, homeowners can expect to save up to 50% of cooling energy just by using an awning. The idea may sound simple but it can save you money on your energy bills.
